Frozen at Intro Screen every time!!
Hello,
Just to introduce myself to the community- I am Sithian and this is my first post. I used to play Ultima Online (played for 7 years, quit 2 years ago) and World of Warcraft (played for about 1 year). I grew bored with both of these games (I like to PvP plus I have major time restrictions) and I heard great things about Guild Wars, so I decided Id give Nightfall a try.
So I proceeded to load up the game. (I have a PC that I play Half Life 2 on, so I know my system can support Nightfall-2 GHz Pentium 4, ATI PCI 256 Radeon 9600, and 1 GB of Ram and plenty of Hard drive). Every time I open the Guild Wars icon, my game freezes at the introduction screen- no sound, no numbers on the upper right corner. Granted, I did get into the game briefly to create a toon and fool around, but I have not been able to log on since. Right now Im running a defrag, but I don't think it is going to make a difference.
Can anyone please help me get started- it would be greatly appreciated- I am looking forward to seeing what Guild Wars is all about!!
BTW- Im on Comcast NJ too-

Well, as seen here: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...php?t=10083611
Many people who are using Comcast are having trouble connecting/logging in. It is probably the same for you. If the problem still persists after the other people with Comcast can play again, then you can worry. Until then, I wouldn't worry. :|
EDIT: It seems the Comcast problem has been fixed. Do you still have the problem?

Thank you for your replies- I do not believe that my problem is related to the Comcast issue-
Basically the intro screen opens- and the window where you type your login information stays completely back, as well as the daily messages- the mouse cursor freezes- the lightning bolt is on the right corner, but there are no numbers...
I let it sit for 30 minutes and nothing happened-
On a related note, certain MySpace pages also have the same effect on my computer- this does not happen with my laptop, only my desktop that I play games on- so I believe I am having a computer issue-
Any ideas?

This happens to me also. I start up guild wars, and in 2 to 10 seconds my computer will freeze up and i have to pull out the plug. I had been playing for about a 10 months before this started happening.
I found that if i restart my computer and after it finishes booting up if guild wars is the 1st or second thing I start (after vent) it will work fine even i have open other programs after guild wars.
Ive tried everything I can but it just wont go away. I hope this gets worked out.
BTW i don't have Comcast internet.

I had this same thing happen to me, the only difference was that I got a really high-pitched noise when the game froze up as well. My computer would run most programs (excluding games) without any problems. I tried swapping out all the hardware in my PC, and it turned out that the power supply on my PC was shot. Since I swapped my power supply, my PC hasn't frozen up once.
P.S. I do not have comcast either

Interesting Revan-
I posted on some other technical forums regarding the issue and anoher poster suggested it may be a power supply problem-
Thanks-

Thinking about it- the thing is - this only happens to me on MySpace - and GuildWars-
and I do play other games like Wow and CoH and I do visit other intensive web pages like ESPN and Yankees.com-
Did you have these problems consistently or just on certain things? Still think it is a power problem?
